I Feel Provoked and Just Want to Live My Spiritual Life

Q: I just don’t want to deal with people’s BS, you know? I want to do what I want to do. I want to come to meditation when I want to come to meditation with nobody questioning it. I just want freedom like that. I don’t want to have to fight for things.

A: So nothing is free. You may have somebody who objects your going to meditation. There may be problems caused by you doing what you want to do. So do not have the idea that, “If I am further on the path, that “I am problem-free.” Or, that “There should be even less problems.” There may be more problems.

If people see you are more peaceful, if people see you are more spontaneous, if people see you are more joyful, if people see you are really different than how they have always experienced you, they can get very angry with you. People do not like change. And people are challenged by seeing transformation in someone else. There is no question you have experienced profound transformation and true realizations. Many deep realizations. There is no question about it. Now that provokes people frequently because even not knowing it consciously, they feel something and it is like an affront. It is like, “Who do you think you are? Because it challenges them. Why haven’t they found it? Why haven’t they tried it? Why hasn’t that gone out there? People take it as a challenge—as a provocation sometimes. That’s a price that people who come to these types of meetings frequently pay.

Nothing is free. There is always some result that comes with relating with other people. And that does not mean you go and put a down payment on a cave in the Himalayas and just never relate. It means that you have your eyes open and realize that people are people. But really, going all the way means saying, “I am willing to pay the price. Maybe nothing in my life will change. Maybe everything in my life will change. Maybe some people I will get closer to—maybe some people I will never speak to again. ”You do not know. We do not know the result. It is a continuous surprise who supports us, who does not—who stands by our side, who does not …As long as you are alive, and on the planet Earth, there is problems. Anybody who tells you different, or thinks different, is deluded.
